ABKD Toast

New in Poblacion: ABKD

I’ve only been to Poblacion once and haven’t been back until last night. Had dinner with some of my favorite peeps to eat with and I told them about my sister-in-law’s latest venture, ABKD on the ground floor of Z Suites (across Bucky’s). We decided to make it our first stop (we had two dinners, lol). Just from the name itself, it’s pretty obvious that their influence is Pinoy.

Two huge fiddle-leaf fig plants keep you company once you step inside the cozy restaurant. Fresh from my Bali design obsession, I immediately recognized the solihiya fixtures above. It’s an open kitchen set-up so you can see the chef prepare your meal. We were planning to hop to another restaurant in the Poblacion area, so we shared three orders among ourselves.

ABKD Toast

We ordered the ABKD Toast (salmon, tomatoes, ricotta, truffle honey, poached egg on sourdough), Chori Burger with shrimp, and off-the-menu Eenie Meenie Bucatini (which is cooked a la carbonara, I think?). Split between four people, I was pretty full from the shared meal. I also had a cappuccino. There’s also a display case with bread a la panaderia—pan de sal, cheese roll, ensaymada, kalihim, pan de regla, pan de coco, Spanish bread, and more. I ordered some for takeout to share with my dad. We had it for breakfast today and I’m definitely going back for the Spanish bread. Mmm.

ABKD Bucatini

I loved the ABKD Toast and the Bucatini but I probably won’t come back for the Chori burger, which was way too hot for this spicy food weakling. Wish they would open early so I could have coffee with their bread.

How pretty are the plates and those edible flowers?!

ABKD Spanish Bread, ensaymada, kalihim

I was so full after but that didn’t stop me from having a second dinner (what’s new?). We crossed over to the other side of Poblacion to Ebi10. Loved the scallop corn and ebi tempura (batter was so light!). We walked around looking for a place to have dessert but eventually ended up just going back to the car. When my tummy is as hard as my forehead, I know it was a good meal. That or I’m busog. LOL!

ABKD is located at 5663 Alfonso St. Poblacion, Makati. On soft opening, 5pm to 12mn, Tuesdays to Sundays.
